Who or what is DayStar? DayStar is many things to many people, but first and foremost DayStar is a dream - a living dream. A dream that is seeing light and hope come into the lives of the Native People that DayStar serves. It is a dream that is seeing godly Native leaders raised up to show the people in their communities that there is a God who loves them - a God who loves them personally, deeply and passionately. DaysStar is a 'place' where kids can come and have fun, be supervised and cared for by people who love children, a place where the love of Jesus is taught and reflected. DayStar is Summer Clubs. With the help of volunteers from churches in both Canada and the USA, DayStar provides fun-filled summer day-club experiences for kids of all ages. Days filled with fun activities and practical lessons learned from heroes of the Bible. DayStar is fellowship groups for men and women. A time each week where people can come together for refreshments, fellowship and lessons from God's Word. DayStar is a safe place where people with problems of all kinds can find a listening and compassionate ear. DayStar is a place with a clothing bank where people can receive free, lightly used clothing. DayStar is a group of people who have been loved by God and wish to share those experiences with others, that they too may personally know this all-loving God. |
"Nish" comes from Anishinaabe, the tribe more widely known as the Ojibwe. "Nish" is used among friends and family, or even a complete stranger (as long as they're a Nish, too). Always used on friendly terms. It could be an insult if used in the wrong way, but why would you want to do that? |
