INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES!   A short period of time that will change your life forever!

God is using bike trips, youth retreats, creative art workshops, day camps, hiking, Bible Studies, and much more in Northern Ontario to see the message of the Gospel bring transformation, healing, and wholeness through Jesus to our Indigenous people. We are excited about what Jesus has for this next year and who He will bring to partner with us in helping see First Nations people get to know Jesus on beautiful Manitoulin Island and further north,

If you have a heart for Native Americans, desirous of experiencing God in a special way, and are looking for a unique cross-cultural ministry opportunity in Ontario, then this internship is for you. The DayStar Internship program is primarily designed for senior high school and college-age students, and if you have a couple months and a heart to serve, please contact us for more information. Teams are mobilised to work with children, youth, and adults to provide programs and relationships that will be healthful, fun, and Christ-centred. Through this, team members journey with Christ and long term staff, in building lasting relationships and developing/strengthening both relational and leadership skills.

What you can anticipate

During your internship, you can expect to be trained in and experience cross-cultural protocol specifically regarding Native culture. There will be many opportunities for language learning, history learning, personal stories in conversation, and land based teaching. You will see the power of prayer more fully and be challenged to grow deeper in your relationship with God, as we can do nothing without Him.

Developing the skill of communicating spiritual truth conversationally, creative problem solving, and seeing opportunities for developing relationships, also comes with the territory of being a DayStar intern. You will be part of the adventure of being stretched and challenged as part of a team with various giftings, personalities, and perspectives. You will see how God is bringing His healing in the lives of many Native people – bringing them from darkness into Light.

Most interns will also contribute in weekly activities of The Wiikwemkoong Fellowship, a Native church on the reserve.

A Story to Tell

Every intern has a story to tell. Three interns were asked if they could use one or two words to describe their internship experience with DayStar, what would they say? “Awesomely exhausting”, “Adventure”, “Challenging and rewarding” were their responses. Behind these words are faces of children, youth, and adults that they journeyed with the last months. Each person that they invested time with was touched by the love of God in and through them. So if you’re interested please consider and pray about taking the next step towards a DayStar Internship.

If God is laying this opportunity on your heart and you are considering an internship with DayStar, please request an internship application via email info@daystarnativeoutreach.com. Summer internship applications should be completed by April 1st. While our most common internship is the eight week summer program, we are open to discussing three month seasonal internships and year long internships.
